Poll Results: Thanksgiving 11/11/2015 By Falon Veccia '18 ​ What is your favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal? ​ Turkey: 25% Mashed Potatoes: 29% Pie (Apple/Pumpkin)  : 14% Stuffing:  25% Biscuits and Gravy : 5% Ham : 2% There is a chill in the air, the leaves are changing, and Halloween festivities are winding down; it seems winter is soon approaching. However, before plunging into Christmas, everyone should settle down and notice that Thanksgiving still awaits! Whether you fall into the category of having a traditional Thanksgiving or the small majority of those who give thanks in a modern style, the Thanksgiving season is sure to be a good one. For the Thanksgiving Feast, 29% of Bonnies enjoy potatoes. 25% of Fontbonne foodies enjoy turkey, 14% like pie (apple/pumpkin) the most, 25% enjoy stuffing, 5% enjoy biscuits and gravy, and only 2% eat ham with the most pleasure during Thanksgiving. Food plays a major role on Thanksgiving, but there many other things to keep in mind during the season. The basis of Thanksgiving is thanks and is a time to display our gratitude for our extraordinary gifts. These gifts would include having a family that loves us and having a second home at Fontbonne. It is also a time to give back, where Fontbonne gives us this opportunity. The students join together and form F.A. Thanksgiving baskets and collect items to share with the O.L.P.H Food Pantry. Thanksgiving also guides us to other holidays and events, such as the greatest shopping day of the entire year, Black Friday. Black Friday is one of the greatest times to get sales on some high end items. Although some may fear the large crowds and miss out on the best sales, there are many solutions to these problems. Regarding safety, one should know what they want first to avoid the copious crowd and always have a clear mind, avoiding violence of any collober. The store itself should try to maintain order among crowds, but once things turn ugly, that would be the time to abort your mission. As for the greatest place to shop, Best Buy would be the number one choice. Some of the hottest deals include the Apple Ipad mini 3, which is now 74$, and the other great tablet deals. Target is on the 55 Editor’s Choice where they have great deals on electronics, toys, and movies. So whether you enjoy the food on Thanksgiving or the sales that come after, the season itself holds its own weight compared to other holidays. It is a great time for thanks and the experience at Fontbonne is sure to be a great one. ​
